March 26, 2014. For Kiwanians receiving the George F. Hixon Fellowship Award is very very special. This award is a recognition of what a member has done for and means to the club. For his significant contribution to Kiwanis Club of Palmer Township for many years this awards has been presented to Bob Pretopapa. Bob joined the club in August 1980 and in 1986 he became president. He also served as Lt. Gov. for the division. For many years he has served on the Foundation Board of Directors and has been a part of the success of that organization. He was the first chairman of the golf committee and set the stage for many very successful golf outings raising a substantial amount money to be used for our giving program. The list of accomplishments through his years of service is extensive and we thank him for being so active in the club. Congratulations Bob you surely deserves this award.

The club has donated $1,000 in Bob's name to The Eliminate Project which is a Kiwanis International Foundations initiative. Tetanus is a painful and deadly disease, causing extreme sensitivity to light, sound and contact—even preventing the comfort of a mother’s touch. The Eliminate Project is our chance to help protect the connection between mother and child.

Christmas Baskets. Again this year several Kiwanians from our club worked hard to create a better Christmas for many families in the Easton Area. The whole process began with the Key Clubs from both Easton Area HS and Wilson Area HS collecting 50 boxes of canned goods. This was supplemented by Colleen and Jeff Miller supplying 35 boxes of cereal. These supplies were picked up by members of the club and and sorted into 35 boxes. On December 19th, 20th and 21st six teams distributed the boxes to 35 families with a total of 108 children. The remaining canned goods were donated to the Salvation Army.

The Kiwanian's involved in this project were Chuck Lewis, Pat Weber, Pat Weber, Jr., Ken Kochey, Bob Moran, Betsy Walker, Carrie Fellon, Phil Werner, Don and Santa Wright, Bob Pretopapa, Lynne Reismeier and her daughter Meredith, Debbie Ashton-Chase, Sandee Kennedy, Bernie Altman, Jim Brown, Ed Dean and Elaine Arnts.
