About the Palmer Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Palmer Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania is a service organization that was formed in 1974 and charted on March 24, 1975, with the sole purpose of helping young children of the community.  This is done through the fund raising activities of the club and its 50 members.

To manage these fund raising activities the club meets every week for fellowship and to plan activities to raise the money that the club needs to have to support our objective.

The club is always looking for new members so if you want to become involved in this type of service organization please contact Chuck Lewis at 610-258-4970.  Or, if you are approached by a Kiwanis member asking if you are interested in joining please give it serious consideration.  Without involved and dedicated people, we cannot do what is necessary to help the needy young children of our community.

Palmer Kiwanis Foundation

The Kiwanis Foundation of Palmer Township was formed in 1992 for the purpose of building a charitable organization which would support needy community organizations and individuals. For more information go to the Foundation page.

Key Clubs

The Kiwanis Club of Palmer Township sponsors Key Clubs at Easton, Notre Dame and Wilson High Schools.  In these clubs the high school students get actively engaged in the fellowship of the clubs and their activities of fund raising for their own philanthropy goals.  They also get involved in helping at the various Kiwanis Club fund raisers.  These are young people doing what they can to give back to the community by helping someone in need.

The Kiwanis Club of Palmer Township also sponsors the K Kid Club at the Palmer Elementary School. This is a feeder club to the Key Clubs as the children move through the classes.

Fund Raisers

Every year the Palmer Kiwanis has several fund raising events to raise money we need to support our giving projects.

A Saturday in March is a large event for the Kiwanis.  This is the day we hold our pancake breakfast with the Easter Bunny.  This excellent breakfast brings in a large group of people each year; but, we always have room for more so remember to look for the breakfast every March.

In July we conduct our largest fund raiser when we hold our annual Golf Outing at one of the nicest golf clubs in Northampton County. We are always looking for sponsors and golfers to enjoy a fun filled event while helping us raise money for children.

In August the Palmer Kiwanis participates in the Palmer Community Days at Fairview Park.  Please stop by our booth and support us as we use your money to support needy children.

Each September we have a rose sale when you can buy a dozen roses for the special person. This is a popular event since the roses are high quality and last for many days.

There are several other activities the Kiwanis is engaged in to raise money.

The Giving

Every Christmas our Kiwanis and Key Clubs put together and distribute food baskets to needy families in the Easton Area.  Our objective is to provide them with a good meal on this special day to bring some cheer to their lives.

College scholarships are given to seniors who have participated in the their high school Key Clubs and meet certain criteria set by our scholarship committee.

Kiwanis International is the main non-profit sponsoring organization involved in the eventual elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) throughout Africa and the world.  As reported in the Kiwanis magazine "....South Africa made great strides against IDD, and a survey revealed that school children in seven of nine provinces were consuming sufficient levels of iodine."  Stamping out IDD is a worthwhile cause and part of our funds goes to this program.

As a sponsor of the Easton Area, Wilson and Notre Dame Key Clubs some of our funds go for supporting their programs and projects.

Other programs that benefited from our fund raising include: Easton ProJeCt, Lehigh Valley Child Care, Dream Come True, Third Street Alliance, Project Child, Visually Impaired Lehigh Valley, Visiting Nurses Association and the Weller Center. We also have an Children's Emergency Fund to help children in emergency need. For example, one year we donated money to buy winter clothes for an EAHS student who lost all of his clothes in a fire. Further, we have made a number of donations from our Foundation Funds.
